Solar clothes dryer revisited

Here is the installed and fully operational clothesline.  I found the set discarded in my woods.  The supports rusted away years ago, but the well-made galvanized metal posts were intact and have years of life left in them.  We chose to simply set them into holes filled with cement.

This galvanized T shaped clothesline set will last for many more years.

The lines will need to be re-knotted as they stretch under the weight of wet cloth.  Flannel sheets are heavy!  I was able to place the lines where they will get lots of sun and most of the prevailing winds.  My laundry will be dry in no time flat!

  2. I've done a couple of loads of sheets, can't wait to really load that thing up and see how many loads it will hold!

  3. I couldn't live without a clothesline- it's one of the first things I install at every new apt I live in!

  4. I know, I'm so excited! (More proof that I'm a farm nerd!) I used my one long line a lot, and am so happy to have a grown-up set of lines that we don't have to duck under every time we go outside, as the single line was right in front of the door to the backyard. Anytime I used it, we had to do the limbo all day. We don't bend like we used to!

  5. Love it Free! I grew up with clothes on the line and if it was really bad outside, clothes on a rack in front of the wood stove. When we were newlyweds, I dried a load of whites inside our apartment on my treasured antique drying rack. I thought it was the most wonderful thing ever.

To this day however, my DH teases me about "crunchy shorts." From now on, all whites are done in the dryer or on the line so the breeze keeps them soft. ;-)

  6. Ha-ha! Crunchy shorts! Yes, I toss a lot of stuff in the dryer for a tumble with a dryer ball (gotta get that second ball felted!) and/or a dampened towel. I love the old-fashioned ways but I don't have time...or the desire...to iron!
